USA Book Tour, Part 2: Nov. 6 - Dec. 6, 2012

Dear friends, How do I feel? Nervous, of course! Tomorrow morning I fly from Caracas to Austin, Texas to start the second half of my speaking tour to launch my new book, After Capitalism: Economic Democracy in Action -- four weeks across the Southwest and up the Pacific coast. I'll be going to hear you at CNM's Montoya Campus today. What you say reminds me of a film I saw recently, A Dollar a Day (2006), on LINK TV. Cotton farmers in Mali are trying to get the WTO to end cotton subsidies in the US. Cotton growers in the US have flooded the world market with cheap GMO cotton, putting the whole global crop at risk, including themselves. Farmers in Mali are considering an alternate crop, a plant that needs very little water or fertilizer and makes a delicious beverage. You can see more about it here:
